Courage and Catastrophe
A Ritual Recommitment to Love and Community
with Dr. Daniel Foor
Our Invitation
It can be easy to feel like the world, or at least the very impactful geopolitical world of established power structures and systems, are hopelessly recreating the problems they sometimes presume to address. There is merit to this impression.
Accelerated human-driven climate change, profound global inequality, sustained oppression, and multiple active genocides—amidst these and 1,001 other troubles, the political momentum needed to boldly meet these challenges is too often overruled by fearful, racist, and nationalistic contractions.
And also, we are made of fertile earth, starlight, morning dew, old magic, and the breath of the dead who speak through wind and weather. Love still holds the world together and is the beacon through the sandstorm of the coming decades.
Even if you happen to be personally thriving (may it persist!), for the majority of human folk and many of our other-than-human Earthly kin, the times are rough with prognosis for greater turbulence ahead. As intensities wax and wane, how are your personal practices helping you to show up for your daily life? What’s helping you to deepen in your path through the great rupturing of our times? Do you feel prepared for the increased intensities ahead?

In this free 90-minute community equinox ritual, Daniel will weave teachings and guided practices to renew our alignment with love, life, and the many beings. We’ll gently invite open-hearted presence, tenderness, and possibly even a bit of levity in the midst of the deepening catastrophe of at least the next few generations.
Daniel will speak to themes covered in much more depth in our course Practical Animsm. Expect time for Q&A and guided practice, also to honor the upcoming Equinox. The gathering will be recorded and shared afterward with all who register.
We’ll explore topics like:
- What helps us to face the enormity of the times without collapsing or becoming completely flooded with sorrow or despair?
- How can an ethic of teamwork with the ancestors, the Earth, and the unseen increase our resilience and efficacy in long-term cultural change work?
- In what ways can our extended kin hold us when we feel like giving up? And when they have our back, can we allow ourselves to be held?
Our time will include:
- Pragmatic teachings on dancing with levity and doom, love and catastrophe
- Guided practices to reconnect with love and purpose on your path
- Opportunity to bring live questions to Daniel
- Nourishing community connection time to honor the equinox
