Free intro talk with Dr. Daniel Foor.

Everyone has loving and wise ancestors, and by reaching out for their support we access tremendous vitality for personal and family healing. In addition to supporting repairs with living family, our ancestors encourage healthy self-esteem and help us to clarify our destiny, relationships, and work in the world.

Participants will be introduced to an inclusive, heart-centered framework for relating safely and directly with family ancestors, both helpful guides and the dead in need of assistance. We’ll also touch on the implications of ancestral work for cultural healing (e.g., sexism, racism, colonialism) and the importance of including much older ancestors in our approach to ancestor reverence. There will be plenty of time for dialogue and lively discussion. The material presented will draw in part from Daniel’s book Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing. Daniel will also be co-leading a three-day intensive in ancestral healing Friday-Sunday, July 12-14 in Porto (Event Page FB Event Page).

This intro talk event is free, please RSVP below if you can.

In this approach to ancestral healing we give respect to earlier generations and cultures in the places where we teach. Humans have inhabited the land that is now Portugal for over 35,000 years and the city of Porto for over 2,000 years, making it one of Europe’s oldest cities. Home to diverse pre-Roman peoples (e.g. Lustianians and Gallaeci), Romans, Germanic tribes (Suebi and Visigoths), North African Muslims, and modern Portuguese people, Porto is now an epicenter for the music, architecture, and other living traditions of the Northern Portugal.

Daniel Foor, PhD, is a licensed psychotherapist and a doctor of psychology. He has led ancestral and family healing intensives throughout the United States since 2005, and has been blessed to live as a student of culture in the Czech Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria. Daniel is an initiate in the Ifá/Òrìṣà tradition of Yoruba-speaking West Africa and has trained with teachers of Mahayana Buddhism, Islamic Sufism, and different indigenous paths, including the older ways of his European ancestors. He is the author of Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing and lives with his wife and daughter near Asheville, North Carolina in the United States.
