FREE TEACHING AND RITUAL
Ancestral Recovery:
Northern Europe
The First in a Series on Culture, Land, and Healing
with Dajana Heremic, Scott Richardson-Read, Shannon Willis, and Daniel Foor
Our Invitation
Whether your people have migrated, were taken elsewhere, or have remained for generations in ancestral homelands. Whether they enacted colonialist aggressions, fled persecution and war, or endured invasions at home. No matter the specifics, the ancestors and their legacies reverberate and call for care and attention in the present. This is as true for those of diverse Northern European origins as for any other humans.
This free collaborative teaching and ritual will explore ways that ancestral reconnection practices can benefit Northern Europeans, Euro-descended folks, and others with investment in the region and peoples, whether it be through love, culture, vocation, or geography. All are welcome.
Our four esteemed presenters will be: Dajana Heremic, Dutch animist, witch, and earth-skills teacher; Scott Richardson-Read, Scottish herbalist, folklorist, and founder of Cailleach’s Herbarium; Shannon Willis, U.S.-based animist and Founder of The Centre for Ritual & Reverence, and Daniel Foor, Spain-based American animist, author, and founder at Ancestral Medicine (see below for more on our panelists).
Audio:
We’ll explore topics like:
- How can the ancestors support decolonization & generational repair?
- What are ways to draw closer to ancestral support, love, and guidance?
- In what ways do the ancestors align with Earth cycles and healing?
Our time will include:
- Teachings from each of our four guests.
- An co-created, inclusive experiential practice.
- Live Q&A to interact in real time with our four panelists.
All teachings shared will be rooted in an anti-racist ethic that opposes ethno-nationalism, erasure of legacies of colonialism, and any form of European ancestral supremacy or bigotry.
This offering is the first in a longer regionally and culturally focused series on ancestry, identity, and belonging. All are welcome, and a recording of this session will be shared afterward with all who register.
When cultural legacies are harmful, engaging with wise and healed lineage ancestors can be a potent form of correction.
Our Panel
Dajana Heremic
Dajana is an artist, teacher, student & ceremonialist who works from a profound love for the wild and a deeply animistic experience of the world – to her this is true anarchy. In exploring the old ways of ancient Europe & reclaiming the cyclical & dark of (our) nature she finds meaning. Her offerings revolve around rewilding and hedgeriding as she weaves wildlife & ecocentrism, traditional witchcraft, folklore, shamanism, dreams, dark feminine, shadow work & ancestral skills into her daily life. As a refugee of war, the path of animism has, since her childhood, deepened the sense of place, belonging and the radical meaning of Home. Learn More
Scott Richardson-Read
Scott is an academic researcher, writer, herbalist, historian, activist, Scottish folk magic practitioner, and the founder at Cailleach’s Herbarium. He encourages people to become custodians of Scotland’s intangible and historic animistic heritage through the work of the Woven Land Network and curates’ events through the Taibhsear Collective, bringing together experts in areas of Scottish folk magic, music, story, and practice to fetch them into relevance today. When he is not writing, Scott works in community with marginalised people, creating change in legislation, policy and practice in Scotland to have their voices heard where it matters. Learn More
