What to expect

Spirituality is less about who you are and more about what you do. Practice is the ongoing work of cultivating your psyche and soul, and it’s practice—not identity—that shapes what carries forward after the death of the body.

Practice is also an easy thing to struggle with. Momentum slows, motivation drops. Something that used to work stops working. You practice alone, without community or tradition to hold you. Your state shifts, you’re moody, life’s complexity takes over, the world around you changes and comes between you and your routine.

We’ll get tangible about all of it: how to work with waning motivation, how to let your practice evolve when something needs to change, how to draw on communal support and ritual when you’re isolated or practice outside of a certain specific faith. We’ll also discuss how to work with different states, and how to realistically assess whether your practice is working in the ways you want it to.

Expect some guided, embodied practice to reflect on what you’re currently doing and how well it’s serving you, and to sit with real questions: when to stay the course, when to make changes, and how to build bit by bit without getting rigid or judgmental. We’ll also have ample time for Q&A. The aim is to reenliven a discipline rooted in devotion: a loving, beneficial alignment you can actually sustain.
