Spirit Contact for Beginners
Reclaiming Intuition and Direct Knowing
A four-part series from Dr. Daniel Foor
This course is on demand, and may be enjoyed at your own pace.
About the Course
This self-paced course is an introduction to connecting in safe and direct ways with the greater web of our often unseen kin and spirits. Many of us never receive the support, guidance and validation to enjoy relationships with the diverse beings in our lives, even though it’s one of the most ordinary and human things we can do. Ancestors, animals and plants; those who are water and stone, wind and weather; celestial bodies; spirits of place and other local gods and powers. All these and more are part of the larger matrix of relationship into which we are born and to which we return.
These teachings are appropriate for folks who are entirely new to the subject, as well as those seeking to understand prior experiences of spirit contact. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own experiences and cultural conditioning in a way that honors their capacity for going deeper.
The art of relating with the spirits, the Earth and our greater web of connection.

In the course I took a half step back and looked from a distance at my own habits of perceiving the world. I saw how feeling separate from the rest of the universe is like a cut through my own being. I held still and allowed for the wound to slowly start growing back together, working through the pain that comes with that. I witnessed the longing of others and of my own soul to move towards understanding that we are not alone and to get ready for releasing what we hold on to so we can finally hear what is being whispered in the space inbetween.

Frequently Asked Questions
This course is designed to explore mental health and ritual topics through an animist lens, and participants may find themselves reflecting on tender or vulnerable topics like trauma, bonding, psychosis, and belonging. The course is not a replacement for direct, living support and/or professional medical advice, and enrollment does automatically include access to our Community Forum—an online discussion group of students past and present, including supportive members from Ancestral Medicine’s Practitioner Network and Ancestral Medicine staff. Sharing experiences, reflecting on practices, and making connections in this private online community can provide one form of support.
Ancestral Medicine offerings are rooted in feminist, decolonizing, anti-racist, LGBTQI-friendly, class-aware, international, Earth-honoring ethics and a heart-aware and non-dogmatic spirit that seeks to honor each participant’s unique life experiences and ancestral storylines. Resources included with each lesson favor ancestrally and geographically diverse voices both within and outside the field of psychology, and the online Community Forum includes BIPOC and LGBTQ-only discussion spaces.
All of our lesson videos have auto-generated closed captioning, as well as a full transcript and additional downloadable audio-only versions. If you have needs not met here, please feel free to reach out to us with suggestions at info@ancestralmedicine.org.
