Our Invitation
Just over half of all humans are male, but when it comes to courageous introspection, depth spiritual practice, and the long road of emotional adulting, men are often behind the curve. Men are less likely to go to therapy, get mental health support, or show up in most spiritual spaces focused on personal maturation. What gives? Where are all the men?
In this 90-minute teaching and guided ritual, we’ll focus on the larger intergenerational context for why men are so often averse to personal and spiritual cultivation and also wonder how ancestral reconnection practices can help to remedy stuck avoidance and fear. Teachings will consider the essential role men have to play in dismantling patriarchy, sexism, and oppressive systems in work for self, family, and culture. We’ll speak to tenderness, grieving, and vulnerability as ancestral gifts and explore tangible practices to begin or continue the transition out of emotional isolation and silent suffering.
This offering is for you if you’ve tried other approaches and still find you’re craving something more; if you’ve been stuck on your path, if you’ve been wondering about new ways of engaging your inner work; or if you already feel connected to your lineages and would like tangible, boots-on-the-ground practices to deepen those relationships. It’s also for you if you’re starting to recognize how systems of oppression are at play in the world and in your life, and you’re trying to put that awareness into practice.
SUGGESTED CONTRIBUTION $45 (min. $0)
You may click below to check out for the recommended contribution of $45, or tap below the price box to name your own price from $0 up.Along with Daniel Foor, Founder and Director of Ancestral Medicine and author of Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing, you’ll hear from Awo Fasegun, spiritual teacher, husband, father, grandfather, and elder in Ifá and Ògún priesthoods based in Los Angeles, CA. We’ll also be joined by Tom Hirons, teacher, mentor, ancestrally connected poet and the father of two boys in Dartington, England.
This offering will provide a dynamic and effective approach to men’s vitality that’s systemic, generational, and cultural in ways that are too often missing or underemphasized.
The approach will be kind, direct, and culturally inclusive. Men who are trans, gender non-confirming, non-binary, intersex, averse to men’s work, or who in any way feel complicated about their gender are all welcome. Other-than-men are also warmly welcome, and our time will mostly center the men-folk at this gathering.
We’ll explore topics like:
- What possibilities open up around healthy masculinity when we come into direct relationship with older ancestral fathers and grandfathers in spirit?
- How can facing the depth of harm caused by patriarchy and sexism be liberatory for men in their path to spiritual maturation?
- How can the often quiet suffering of men function as a gateway to the work of introspection, open-heartedness, and authentic presence?
Our time will include:
- Direct, pragmatic teachings from respected educators and healer-types
- A guided practice to give respect and reverence to your male ancestors
- Live Q&A with our three esteemed presenters
This event also serves to spotlight our foundational course, Ancestral Lineage Healing. Thousands have taken the course since 2017 and have gone on to take the work into their practices, professions, families, and activism. We’d love to have you there. If you’re not into it after the first session, you’re welcome to a full refund. The first live lesson is on May 15.
