Most people in the United States drawn to Earth-honoring paths have little to no support from family or the dominant culture to pursue this calling. This presents unique challenges (and blindspots) to walking a sustainable spirit-led path over many years and even greater pitfalls when hoping to mature into the rare and elusive role of an actual living “elder”.
Join us for a heart-centered teaching and dialogue on how to anticipate and navigate common pitfalls on the spiritual path. Participants can expect to gain fresh perspective and some basic skills to:
- Navigate the shadow side of spiritual teachers, communities and traditions while still being humble enough to actually learn
- Grieve the devastating poverty of Western capitalist culture without accidentally becoming dogmatic and annoying
- Find ways to reactivate our indigenous sensibilities without idealizing tribal peoples or being a culturally appropriating weirdo
- Approach your calling with depth of practice in ways that make you more child and family-friendly, more beloved by the wild creatures, and ultimately a kinder, more loving and useful person
Expect an experiential process or two and time for real talk in sacred space about what supports our longing for conscious community (including relationship with the other-than-humans) when so much about modern life is destructive to the holy earth.
